I just got back from a 10 day trip to Germany and I missed every game. Every. Single. One.
I arrived there bone crushingly exhausted and fighting the flu - which is an interesting backdrop when the world is a mask wearing, Swine flu-fearing, sea of panic.
A smarter man would have been put off by it.
But I am a sad, needy man and therefore I chose to wander the streets of Bonn at 4 a.m. with a computer and a scarf looking for a "T-mobile hot spot". I am an idiot, I accept that.
So I'm back. And it's a brand new world out there.
Washington and Pittsburgh are ripping it up - which is great fun. Boston "the mighty" are choking - which is really not what I expected but it is a great dramatic turn. Finally, Barry Melrose's surprise pick is revealing themselves to have more in the tank than almost anyone had thought.
Great second round!!!!!
Last night, I was at the Ducks/Wings game. Watching 10 Hall of Famers play against each other is awesome. Just awesome.
To make the experience complete, some dude standing right next to my brother pulled an octopus from his pants and threw it onto the ice.
He actually almost hit Pronger in the head with it! In the end no one hit anyone and the game continued.
The broad strokes: Jonas Hiller was off and Chris Osgood was solid. And that was going to be the difference maker for me before the Ducks took a hiatus in the second period.
I've never seen them relax so much on Defense. I mean, they're the Ducks. And they were behind the back passes, dropped passes and really strange attempts to get it out of the zone. Needless to say it wasn't working.
From everything I had read in Germany, I didn't expect to see a lack of discipline when I returned. And that's what it felt like. They are a better team than that.
