Syd Butler - "The Save"

Blog 11 - Monday, May 4

Before I get into anything else, in the future I would like to refer to Simeon Varlamov's save as "The Save". Alex Ovechkin has "The Goal" and now Simeon Varlamov has "The Save."

As my step brother Derek said, "That was the best save I've ever seen." I think he might be right. It will be a highlight forever.

A turning point for the series?

We will see...

Varlamov started off a little shaky, but he turned it around and was a wall after his softy in the second.

Caps have to stay out of the box. John Erskine had three trips? Our 5 on 5 play was a little suspect. Congrats to the Pens for staying out of the box and playing good hockey. It was refreshing to see a hockey game and not Avery's antics.

I'm really happy the Caps have made it past Game 1 of Round 2.

This series will be great to watch.

Quote of the Day

It's pretty crazy, but believe me when I say we didn't draft these players with the mindset we had to because they had good hockey-playing dads. It just turned out that way. But we're certainly glad they're a part of our organization.

— Arizona Coyotes director of amateur scouting Tim Bernhardt regarding the coincidence that six of the organization's top prospects are sons of former NHL players
