Syd Butler - The Other Woman

Blog 10 - Monday, May 4

Bill Guerin reminds me of the Nina Simone song, "The Other Woman."

The media continues to build up the rivalry between Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby and they even throw in Alexander Semin and Evgeni Malkin.

But the secret to this series might be Guerin, "the other woman," if you will. He finds time to make the right pass. He is perfect where his rivals fail. He's a leader on and off the ice.

At the end of the day, in the song, the other woman goes home alone. But if the Caps don't do their job against him, they will be the ones going home alone.

Quote of the Day

It's pretty crazy, but believe me when I say we didn't draft these players with the mindset we had to because they had good hockey-playing dads. It just turned out that way. But we're certainly glad they're a part of our organization.

— Arizona Coyotes director of amateur scouting Tim Bernhardt regarding the coincidence that six of the organization's top prospects are sons of former NHL players
