The healing is well underway for the Vancouver Canucks, who are now five days into their lengthy break between playoff rounds.

After missing practice on Friday, both Sami Salo and Willie Mitchell returned to the ice Saturday.

Salo, who missed Game 3 of the opening round with a lower-body injury, didn’t take part in the team session, skating with Taylor Pyatt prior to practice. Salo said he’ll be ready to play Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals.

Mitchell participated in some drills with the Canucks after sitting out Friday with general soreness, but left the ice early to ensure his body is ready for the second round.

“I felt the area has kind of been sore a little bit and I knew we had tomorrow off so I just kind of aired on the side of caution to make sure that I feel good for the start of the next series,” Mitchell said.

The Canucks have Sunday off before returning to the ice Monday.
Quote of the Day

It's about enjoying the moment. It's pretty cool to get that many people together and that excited about hockey to the point they really want you to mess up. They've got a ton of red jerseys and you have to sit back and appreciate people love hockey that much and you are the one out there who gets to play the game. Just try and stick with that respect for the game and also the mentality that for me it's just about entering the fight and seeing how long I can stay in it.
