Tuesday, 04.21.2009 / 12:35 PM / 2009 Playoffs Conference Quarterfinals

By Larry Wigge - NHL.com Columnist

ST. LOUISPaul Kariya will not be in the lineup for the Blues Tuesday night (8 p.m. ET, CBC) when they face elimination from the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

"It's a no go," Kariya said Tuesday morning. "But I'm getting closer every day."

The Blue trail the Vancouver Canucks 3-0 in the series and hop to force a Game 5 with a win tonight. Should the series advance to five games, Kariya said he would be able to play.

Quote of the Day

Hopefully [Jonathan] has a year that pushes us, that is the organization, to speak to him next summer and looking for [a long-term contract]. Because the thought process is trying to get a goaltender, and hopefully it's Jonathan, to be the stabilizer for this franchise.
