Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane will miss Game 3 of the club's Western Conference Quarterfinal series with the Calgary Flames on Monday night due to the flu. Kane did not participate in the team's morning skate and won't be in the lineup when the 'Hawks attempt to take a 3-0 series lead at Pengrowth Saddledome.
The 20-year-old Kane registered 25 goals and 70 points during the regular season in helping the Blackhawks reach the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2002, and had one assist in two postseason games as Chicago won twice on home ice.
The groove of being behind a bench is going to be interesting at first, but thank God we have a few exhibition games to get rid of those cobwebs. Overall the excitement of it all and the freshness and coming back refreshed, all those things are going to be assets. If [the players] come ready to give their best effort in practice and games, good things are going to happen. I'm always looking for results. It's not always on the scoreboard. It's winning and building something.
