Teddy Sears - Raising the Bar

Blog 1 - Monday, April 13

I am a dyed-in-the-wool, red, white, and blue Washington Capitals fan.

I grew up outside of Washington, D.C. and enjoyed watching games at the dingy, smoky Cap Centre in Landover, Maryland with my brothers and sister.

We all played ice hockey growing up, and after seeing games we'd go to practice the next day and do our best to imitate our favorite players.

As a defenseman I loved Rod Langway, though my coaches would never let me play with my helmet off, like him. I stayed true to the Caps over the years, through good years and bad, and for awhile there it seemed like the Caps would forever be doomed to lose in the first round of the playoffs, usually to the Penguins.

But then came Alex Ovechkin and now the Caps are hot.

I look forward to catching the games between takes while on the set of my TV show, "Raising the Bar," which is set to begin it's second season this summer on TNT.

Go Caps!!!

Quote of the Day

It's pretty crazy, but believe me when I say we didn't draft these players with the mindset we had to because they had good hockey-playing dads. It just turned out that way. But we're certainly glad they're a part of our organization.

— Arizona Coyotes director of amateur scouting Tim Bernhardt regarding the coincidence that six of the organization's top prospects are sons of former NHL players
