Mitch Wahl scores winner as Chiefs defeat Americans 2-1

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Mitch Wahl scored the winning goal with 2:18 left in the game to lead the Spokane Chiefs to a 2-1 victory over the Tri-City Americans on Tuesday night.

Rookie goalie James Reid finished with 34 saves and Drayson Bowman scored a short-handed goal to in the second period for the Chiefs (46-23-0-3, 95 points).

The U.S. Division champion Americans (49-20-0-3, 101 points) had a goal from Tyler Schmidt and 19 saves from rookie netminder Brett Martyniuk.

The game, moved from Saturday because half of the Spokane team came down with food poisoning, had no bearing on the standings or playoff positioning.
