ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Andrew Martens' first career American Hockey League goal was the game winner in the Toronto Marlies' 4-2 victory over the Rochester Americans on Friday night.

Martens, who spent the previous four seasons in the ECHL, beat Americans netminder Mike Brodeur with two minutes left in the second period to give the Marlies (33-26-2-5) a 3-1 lead.

Karl Stewart moved Rochester to within one at 4:09 of the third period, but Alex Foster's empty-netter in the final minute secured Toronto's second win in the past three games.

Jay Rosehill and Bates Battaglia added singles for the Marlies, while Jiri Tlusty and Tim Stapleton had two assists apiece. Justin Pogge earned the win with a 24-save performance.

Michael Duco had the other goal for the Americans (24-37-0-5), who have lost four in a row. Brodeur stopped 20 shots in the loss.
