Panthers hold on to Bouwmeester

Wednesday, 03.04.2009 / 3:16 PM / 2009 Trade Deadline

Jay Bouwmeester is staying put.

The big defenseman, an upcoming unrestricted free agent this summer, was a hot name in the rumor mill prior to Wednesday’s deadline, but Florida Panthers GM Jacques Martin opted to keep his team together for a run at the playoffs and will deal with Bouwmeester’s future another day.

Quote of the Day

Life's about opportunity and how you respond to that opportunity, and obviously he must have some swagger about him, some confidence about him, because he was solid. He made some good saves. He was 6-foot-3 on every shot, which is a good thing for a goalie. He played well. We got a win.
