Habs claim Glen Metropolit off waivers

MONTREAL -- Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced Friday that forward Glen Metropolit was claimed off waivers from the Philadelphia Flyers.

"I indicated Thursday that one of the needs we had identified for our team was to acquire a center to add depth in the middle and complete our group of centermen consisting of Saku Koivu, Tomas Plekanec, Maxim Lapierre and Kyle Chipchura. The opportunity presented itself over the last few hours when the Flyers placed Glen Metropolit on waivers. Glen is a seasoned veteran who played very well against us in last year's playoffs against the Bruins. We are very pleased to have him on our roster," indicated General Manager Bob Gainey.
