Anthony Nigro scores twice as the Ottawa 67's beat the Petes 3-1

OTTAWA - Anthony Nigro had two goals Friday night as the Ottawa 67's defeated the Peterborough Petes 3-1 in Ontario Hockey League action.

Nigro gave the 67's a 2-0 lead with less than five minutes to play in the first period, and just 90 seconds after the Petes scored in the third period, Nigro regained a two-goal advantage for the 67's.

Martin Paryzek also scored for the 67's (31-18-5) while captain Logan Couture had three assists. Chris Perugini made 29 saves for the win.

Chad Lowry had the lone goal for Petes (23-32-2), who had their modest two-game winning streak snapped. Ryan Daniels made 29 saves in the loss.

"It's definitely a great feeling helping my team offensively," said Nigro, who came over in a trade with the Guelph Storm earlier this season.

"I came here to help and it's a good feeling all around. I could have had a few more but a popped the two so that's all that matters."

The 67's remain in third place in the Eastern Conference, 11 points back of the first-place Belleville Bulls.

The Petes are in ninth in the conference, two points out of the final playoff spot.
