VANCOUVER, B.C. - Henrik Sedin and Mats Sundin scored early and the Vancouver Canucks defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 7-3 on Saturday to record two consecutive NHL wins for the first time since mid-December.

Sedin counted 53 seconds after the opening face-off and Sundin scored the first of four Canuck power-play goals two minutes, nine seconds later.

Vancouver forged a 6-0 advantage before Kris Versteeg beat goalie Roberto Luongo on a breakaway for his team-leading fourth shorthanded goal late in the second period.

Ryan Kesler with two goals, Steve Bernier, Daniel Sedin and Alex Edler, who also had three assists, also scored for the Canucks.

Adam Burish and Martin Havlat, with his 17th goal of the season on the power play, scored for Chicago but Kesler's break-in goal choked off a Blackhawk rally in the third period.

Vancouver improved to 24-20-8 as the two wins followed an eight-game losing streak and nine consecutive home-ice losses.

The victory also moved the Canucks into seventh place in the tight Western Conference. They are a point ahead of Minnesota and Edmonton who face each other Sunday.

The Blackhawks saw their 11-0 mark against Canadian teams blemished by the loss that snapped a three-game win streak and left them at 29-14-8.

Henrik Sedin finished a give-and-go as he tipped his brother's slapshot from the side boards behind goalie Christobal Huet.

Sundin made it 2-0 when Kesler's power-play pass found him alone beside an open net. It was Sundin's fourth goal since he joined the Canucks 11 games ago.

Vancouver was two-for-two with the man advantage when Kesler, who has five goals in three games, took Sundin's pass and banked the puck in off defenceman James Wisniewski.

The Blackhawks dominated the last half of the period in which they outshot the Canucks 14-9 but ran into penalty trouble.

Canucks netminder Roberto Luongo had to be sharp to take away the post from Andrew Ladd and looked behind him after Troy Brouwer's shot was buried in his pads.

Nikolai Khabibulin replaced Huet to start the second period but Bernier's backhanded rebound off Rob Davison's point shot slipped behind Khabibulin just over two minutes later.

Khabibulin didn't help himself when he played the puck outside the no-touch trapezoid for a delay-of-game penalty after Jonathan Toews took a double minor for high-sticking.

Daniel Sedin scored during the two-man advantage by converting Sundin's cross-crease pass.

The Canucks led 6-0 and were four-for-six on the power play after Edler hammered the puck between Khabibulin's legs from the side boards.
