OTTAWA - Cody Lindsay scored once and set up another goal and rookie defenceman Brian Birkhoff had four assists Sunday to help the surging Ottawa 67's to a 4-2 victory over the Erie Otters in Ontario Hockey League action.
The Otters struck first just 56 seconds into the game when Luke Gazdic scored on a deflection in front of 67's goaltender Chris Perugini, but Ottawa replied 28 seconds later with the first of two goals that resulted from odd bounces.
Thomas Kiriakou wound up with the puck on his stick in front of an empty net after a dump-in took a strange hop off the boards and left Otters goaltender Jaroslav Janus stranded.
In the second, Lindsay made it 2-1 when his wraparound attempt rolled up the side and top of the net before hitting Janus and dropping in.
Thomas Nesbitt and Ryan Martindale also added goals for the 67's (28-16-2-2), who won their second straight game and fourth in five contests.
"Our little run that we've got going, we really have had the bounces and that one game that (the 67's lost), you could really tell that the bounces weren't going our way, they were going the other way. It's amazing how they do help out the score," Birkhoff said.
Perugini finished with 29 saves.
Rookie Mike Cazzola had Erie's other goal and Janus made 37 stops at the other end for the Otters (23-23-2-0), who lost for the second time in less than 24 hours following an 8-2 defeat Saturday night to the Bulls at Belleville.
Erie also played Friday night, needing overtime to beat the Frontenacs 6-5 at Kingston.
