Ryan Howse scored twice and added an assist Sunday to lead the Chilliwack Bruins to a 5-4 Western Hockey League win over the Hitmen, ending Calgary's franchise-record home winning streak at 18 games.

Howse's linemate Andy Smith had a goal and an assist for the Bruins (13-30-2-3), who snapped a six-game losing streak in the process.

Brett Ward and Chris Collins, with his first WHL goal, also scored for Chilliwack, while Kevin Sundher and Jesse Craige each chipped in with a pair of assists.

In other WHL action it was: Saskatoon 3 Kootenay 1; Medicine Hat 5 Red Deer 1; Seattle 6 Tri-City 4; and Kamloops 5 Everett 4.

At Calgary, Brett Sonne had a goal and an assist for the Hitmen (39-7-2-1), who now have a 24-2-0 record on home ice. Chase Schaber, Joel Broda and Carson McMillan also scored for Calgary.

Chilliwack goalie Lucas Gore made 47 saves, including 24 in the third period when the Hitmen pushed hard to score the tying goal. Rookie Hitmen goalie Michael Snider stopped 20 of the 25 shots he faced in a losing cause.

Blades 3 Ice 1

At Cranbrook, B.C., Gaelen Patterson scored a goal and added an assist as Saskatoon beat Kootenay.

Josh Nicholls and Jyri Niemi also scored for the Blades (32-11-3-1).

Kevin King replied for the Ice (21-20-2-4).

At Medicine Hat, Tristan King scored twice as the Tigers broke out of two-game slump by routing Red Deer.

Taylor Gal, Brennan Bosch and Tyler Ennis also scored for the Tigers (25-16-3-3).

Tommi Kivisto scored the lone goal for Red Deer (16-24-1-6).

Thunderbirds 6 Americans 4

At Kent, Wash., Chris Lund and Brad Haber both scored the first goal of their WHL careers, and Seattle scored four times in the third period to rally past Tri-City.

Greg Scott, Prab Rai, Devon LeBlanc and Jonathan Parker also scored for Seattle (20-22-1-3).

Mitch Fadden, Brooks Macek, Brendan Schinniman and Jason Reese scored for Tri-City (31-13-0-3).

Blazers 5 Silvertips 4

At Everett, Wash., Kenton Dulle scored the only goal in the shootout as Kamloops Blazers defeated the Silvertips.

C.J. Stretch had two goals for Kamloops (22-22-1-4), while Seth Compton and Giffen Nyren also scored.

Tyler Maxwell scored twice, while Graham Potuer and Markus McCrea added singles for Everett (21-18-5-1).
