Flames assign Brett Sutter to AHL

CALGARY (AP) -The Calgary Flames assigned Brett Sutter, son of general manager Darryl Sutter, to the Quad City Flames of the AHL on Friday.

Sutter played in three games for Calgary, scoring his first career goal in his NHL debut Dec. 23 against Anaheim. The goal tied the game in the third period en route to a 4-3 victory.

The 21-year-old forward became the eighth member of the Sutter family to play in the NHL, following in the footsteps of his dad and uncles Brent, Brian, Duane, Rich and Ron and cousin Brandon, who plays for the Carolina Hurricanes.

Calgary selected Sutter in the sixth round of the 2005 draft. In 28 games with the Quad City Flames this season, he had a goal and six assists plus 21 penalty minutes.
