NEWARK, N.J. - Scott Clemmensen made 27 saves in regulation and overtime then stood tall in the shootout and the New Jersey Devils beat the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2 on Sunday.
Travis Zajac clinched the win when he slid the puck past goalkeeper Antero Niittymaki on the fifth shootout attempt, after Clemmensen made his third straight save.
The Devils rallied after relinquishing a 2-0 lead. Clemmensen is now 2-1 in shootouts in his career.
New Jersey defeated Philadelphia for the first time in four meetings this season.
The Devils (19-9-3) pulled within two points of the Flyers (18-9-6) in the Atlantic Division standings, behind the division-leading New York Rangers.
