"This is an unfortunate injury for Francois and we feel badly for him.  However, knowing his character as a player and person, we know he will rebound from this and return to the ice at full strength."
-- Ducks General Manager Bob Murray

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -Anaheim Ducks defenseman Francois Beauchemin will miss about six months after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

An MRI done Saturday revealed the tear that Beauchemin sustained in a 4-3 overtime loss to Nashville on Friday. He will be placed on long-term injured reserve.

The Ducks recalled forward Bobby Ryan and defenseman Brett Festerling from their AHL affiliate in Iowa.

Beauchemin had four goals and one assist in 18 games this season. He was tied for the second-most playing time on the team.

"This is an unfortunate injury for Francois and we feel badly for him," general manager Bob Murray said. "However, knowing his character as a player and person, we know he will rebound from this and return to the ice at full strength."

Quote of the Day

That was something I've been dreaming of, something I've told myself before the third period I was going to do ... It was an amazing feeling. It's hard to describe. I didn't believe it went in at first but when I saw all the reaction and all the fans going crazy and my teammates going crazy, it's just an unbelievable feeling. I didn't know what to do. I didn't know whether to jump or just skate and do a Theo Fleury. I don't think I'm the same caliber player he is so I couldn't do it.
