Later, the
Toronto Maple Leafs begin a 3-game Western Canadian road trip when they face the
Calgary Flames; the
Dallas Stars and
Los Angeles Kings battle to stay out of the Pacific Division cellar; and the
San Jose Sharks look to keep their home record perfect when they play the
Nashville Predators.
Here's what to keep an eye out for:
* Penguins center
Evgeni Malkin, who leads the League with 18 assists and is tied for the League lead with 22 points, has an assist in 12 of his 14 games this season, including 16 in his current 10-game assist streak. Malkin, who was a finalist for last season's Hart Trophy, is tied for the League lead with 11 power-play points.

* The Red Wings, who have played just 5 home games, the fewest of any Central Division team, have a 3-1-1 record at home. Detroit, which is in first place in the division with 20 points, is 6 points behind the Sharks for the Western Conference lead.
* Ottawa, which scored 261 goals last season, the second-most goals in the League, has scored the fewest goals in the Northeast Division with just 38 this season. The Senators, who have the best power play in the division with a 21.9-percent success rate, have scored the second fewest 5-on-5 goals in the League with 19.
* Canadiens left wing
Alex Tanguay is tied for the team lead with 14 points. Tanguay, who has never had more than 81 points in a season, is on pace to score 96 this season.
* Toronto defenseman
Luke Schenn, the fifth pick of the 2008 Entry Draft, leads the team with 40 hits. Schenn, a stay-at-home defenseman, is averaging the second-most ice time among rookies with 21:30 per game.
* Flames defenseman
Dion Phaneuf, who was a finalist for last season's Norris Trophy, is second in the League with an average ice time of 28:55 per game. Phaneuf, who has a minus-5 rating in his last 5 games, has 7 of his 11 points on the power play.
* Dallas defenseman
Stephane Robidas, who is in his second stint with the Stars, is third in the Western Conference with 45 hits. Robidas, who has played at least 21 minutes in 6 of his last 7 games, has a plus-15 rating since returning to the Stars.
* Kings center
Oscar Moller, who is averaging just 14:25 of ice time per game, is tied for the Pacific Division lead among rookies with 7 points. Moller, 1 of 5 rookies to skate for Los Angeles this season, has played less than 16 minutes in all 13 games he's played.
* Nashville defenseman
Shea Weber, who lists winning the Memorial Cup in 2004 with the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League as his most memorable hockey moment, leads NHL defensemen with 7 goals. Weber, who had 20 points in 54 games last season, has 14 in just 14 games this season.
* Predators defenseman
Greg Zanon, who led the Central Division with 176 blocked shots last season, is tied for third in the League and leads the division with 42 blocked shots this season.
* San Jose left wing
Ryane Clowe, who was rookie of the month in January 2007, leads the team with 9 goals. Clowe, who has never had more than 34 points in a season, is on pace for 72 points this season.
* Sharks center
Joe Thornton leads the Pacific Division with a 57.4 faceoff-winning percentage. Thornton, who has led the League in assists each of the last 3 seasons, has just 1 assist in his last 4 games.
