SAGINAW, Mich. - Jack Combs scored 1:45 into overtime to lift the Saginaw Spirit to a 3-2 win over the Kitchener Rangers in a rare penalty-free Ontario Hockey League game on Sunday afternoon.
Kitchener (7-8-0-1) opened the scoring at 6:21 of the first period on a goal from Kevin Hudes.
Saginaw tied the game 42 seconds into the second period when Tyler Murovich scored his second in two games. Jeff Skinner put the Rangers back on top only to see the Spirit (10-6-0-0) get the equalizer on a goal from Jordan Skellett midway through the period.
Spirit goaltender Edward Pasquale turned in another stellar performance with 39 saves, while former Saginaw netminder Parker VanBuskirk stopped 29 shots for the Rangers.
