LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have claimed defenseman Kyle Quincey off waivers from Detroit and have placed defenseman Jack Johnson on the injured reserve list with a shoulder injury, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced Monday.

Last season Quincey, 23, had zero points and four penalty minutes in six games for the Red Wings and 20 points (5-15=20) in 66 games for the American Hockey League’s Grand Rapids Griffins.

The 6-2, 206-pound native of Kitchener, Ontario was drafted by Detroit in the fourth round (132nd overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. In 13 career NHL regular season games he has one point (1-0=1) and four penalty minutes. Quincey, who will wear jersey No. 27 with the Kings, has also suited up for 13 postseason games with the Red Wings, accumulating zero points and two penalty minutes. Before turning pro in 2005-06, Quincey played three years in the Ontario Hockey League with London and Mississauga.
