HALIFAX - Tomas Knotek wasted no time making an impact in his return to the Halifax Mooseheads lineup.
Knotek's goal midway through the third period broke a 2-2 tie and lifted the Mooseheads to a 4-2 win over the Victoriaville Tigres in Thursday's lone QMJHL game.
Knotek, playing his first game of the season after missing the previous 10 with a groin injury, added an assist on Logan McMillan's insurance goal with 48 seconds left as the Mooseheads (3-8-0-0) halted a five-game losing streak. The 18-year-old native of Kladno, Czech Republic led Halifax in scoring as a rookie last season with 66 points (22 goals, 44 assists) in 69 games.
Ned O'Brien and Charles Bety added first-period goals in the Halifax victory.
Alexi Pianosi and Philip-Michael-Devos countered for the Tigres (5-7-0-0), who have dropped three in a row.
Mark Yetman earned the win for the Mooseheads with a 34-save performance.
Kevin Poulin stopped 28 shots in defeat for Victoriaville.
