The 27-year-old Zigomanis had 14 goals and nine assists in 75 games for the Coyotes in 2006-07, but had just two goals and one assist in 33 games last season. He was placed on waivers last week, went unclaimed and was assigned to San Antonio in the AHL.
Zigomanis, a second-round draft pick of Carolina in 2001, has 19 goals and 14 assists in 167 career NHL games with the Hurricanes, Coyotes and St. Louis Blues.
For our team, as a group, we've never been this far before, and so it's just more lessons learned, and sometimes you have to go to the school of hard knocks to find out what works and what doesn't. They've played some unreal hockey here to get us this far, and we showed if we're not going to play the proper way, a really, really good hockey team is going to beat you, and that's what they did.
