It took two things for the Saint John Sea Dogs to hand the Moncton Wildcats their first loss of the season: overtime and Christopher DiDomenico.

The Woodbridge, Ont., native opened the scoring early in the second period and potted the game-winner on the power play 24 seconds into overtime as Saint John defeated the Wildcats 3-2 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Sunday.

Moncton (7-0-1-0) remained undefeated in regulation thanks to Matt Eagles, who scored a power-play goal with two minutes remaining in regulation to knot the game at 2-2. Both of the Wildcats' goals came with the man advantage.

DiDomenico, a sixth-round draft pick by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2007, scored 39 goals and 95 points last season. He is off to a solid start this season, with four goals and seven points in his first five games.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Lewiston 7, Halifax 3; Gatineau 4, Val-d'Or 2; and Montreal 8, Victoriaville 4.

At Moncton, Keven Guerette-Charland also scored for the Sea Dogs (4-6-0-0).

Scott Brannon got the other goal for the Wildcats.

Robert Mayer stopped 32 shots for Saint John, while Moncton netminder Nicola Riopel made 33 saves.

Maineiacs 7, Mooseheads 3

At Halifax, Alexander Beaton scored two goals, including the game-winner, and added an assist as Lewiston routed the Mooseheads.

Marc Bourgeois, Billy Lacasse, Etienne Brodeur, Danick Paquette and Maxime Gratchev also scored for the Maineiacs (4-5-0-0).

Travis Randell, Alexis Piette and Chad Earle replied for Halifax (2-8-0-0), which has now lost five straight.

Junior 8, Tigres 4

At Victoriaville, Que., Luke Adam had a hat-trick and Angelo Esposito added six points as Montreal cruised past the Tigres.

Esposito scored twice, Guillaume Asselin added two goals, and T.J. Brennan also scored for the Junior (5-3-0-0), who have won four straight.

Alexandre Labonte, Brandon Hynes, Dave Nolin and Maxime Tanguay scored for Victoriaville (5-5-0-0).

Olympiques 4, Foreurs 2

At Val-d'Or, Que., Jean-Philip Chabot scored two goals in the third period to lead Gatineau over the Foreurs and snap the Olympiques' four-game losing streak.

Paul Byron and Gerrit Fauser also scored for Gatineau (4-4-1-0).

Alex Noel and Derek Famulare replied for Val-d'Or (0-7-1-0).
