TORONTO - Moose Jaw Warriors forward Joel Broda was named the CHL player of the week on Wednesday.
Broda had five goals and six points in three games, all Warriors wins. He also had a plus-4 rating for the week.
The 18-year-old from Prince Albert, Sask., was a fifth-round selection of the Washington Capitals this year.
Luke Pither of the Guelph Storm was the OHL nominee after posting three goals and six points in three games, while Shawinigan Cataractes forward Nicholas Petersen was nominated from the QMJHL after collecting seven points.
Meanwhile, Windsor Spitfires netminder Andrew Engelage was named CHL goalie of the week after going 2-0-0-0 including a shutout.
Engelage, 19, stopped all 23 shots he faced in a 5-0 win over Sarnia, then made 28 saves a night later in a 4-2 win over London.
Jake Allen of the Montreal Junior was the QMJHL nominee after winning both his games, while 16-year-old Everett Silvertips rookie Kent Simpson was nominated from the WHL after posting a 28-save shutout in his debut.
