LAS VEGAS - T.J. Hensick scored the lone shootout goal, giving the Colorado Avalanche a 4-3 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night in an NHL pre-season game at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

The shootout ended when the Kings' Derek Armstrong sailed his shot high over the net. Colorado tied the game at three late in the third period when Jordan Leopold wristed in a pass from Joe Sakic. Matt Hendricks and Darcy Tucker also scored goals for the Avalanche (2-0-1).

Los Angeles (3-1) got power-play goals from Anze Kopitar and Matt Moulson. Vladimir Dravecky also scored for the Kings, who fell to 8-3-1 in exhibition games in Las Vegas.

Los Angeles had claimed a 4-3 shootout win at Colorado on Wednesday.

Quote of the Day

He's only 17 but he can see the ice so well and he moves the puck and goes to the open ice all the time, so I just think he's a player that is ready to play in the NHL. I'm really looking forward to coaching someone like this.
