NEW YORK – The NHL Powered By Reebok store in New York City will celebrate its first anniversary and the start of the 2008-09 NHL season by hosting a free NHL Face-Off 2008 Fan Festival™ on Friday, October 10 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. As part of the celebration, Honda will give away a 2009 Honda Fit Sport automobile to one lucky fan on-site at the event, and the NHL will award a trip for two to the 2009 NHL Winter Classic™ at Wrigley Field in Chicago through an online contest. Other on-site attractions include the debut of a customized Original Six-themed motorcycle designed by Orange County Choppers, an NHL alumni autograph session, a live ice sculpting show by “Fear No Ice,” a live musical performance by The Zambonis -- the world’s only all-hockey rock band -- interactive hockey-themed kiosks, Starbucks samples and more.
Beginning October 8 through the end of the event, NHL Street Team members will be handing out decoder cards around New York City and at the NHL Powered By Reebok store. Fans who bring these decoder cards to the NHL Face-Off 2008 Fan Festival event will be able to descramble their code to see if they are Grand Prize finalists. All finalists will then be placed into a random drawing where one will come out as the Grand Prize winner of the 2009 Honda Fit Sport automobile. Other prizes given out through this contest include NHL jerseys, NHL Powered By Reebok store discounts and gift certificates to create customized Reebok sneakers.
Fans who are unable to visit the NHL Powered By Reebok store for this event can take part in the celebration by entering to win a trip for two to the 2009 NHL Winter Classic™ by visiting faceoffnyc.nhl.com beginning October 1.
