PITTSBURGH - Veteran defenceman Darryl Sydor will be back in the Pittsburgh Penguins lineup for Game 3 of the Stanley Cup final on Wednesday night.

The 36-year-old will replace rookie Kristopher Letang, whose play has slipped of late. Sydor has yet to see any action in this year's playoffs. He previously won Stanley Cups with Dallas in 1999 and Tampa Bay in 2004.

"Darryl had a great season for us, but we have a lot of depth on defence and our defence was also doing really well," said Penguins coach Michel Therrien. "It's a different story now."

The Penguins trail the Detroit Red Wings 2-0 in the NHL's championship series.
