VANCOUVER - Roberto Luongo was named the Vancouver Canucks' most valuable player for the second straight season Saturday night as the NHL club handed out its annual awards.

Luongo captured the Cyclone Taylor Award, based on fan voting, after posting 35 wins for the third time in his career and establishing a franchise record for longest shutout streak of 210 minutes and 34 seconds. The goaltender also received the Molson Cup Trophy for most three-star selections, conducted by local media.

Ironically, Luongo, who turned 29 Friday, was pulled in favour of backup Curtis Sanford after allowing three goals on nine shots as the Canucks trailed 3-1 after the first period of Saturday's season finale against the Calgary Flames.

Winger Alex Burrows also garnered two awards. Although he is often described as a grinder, Burrows received the club's most exciting player honour, as judged by fans and the Fred J. Hume Award for unsung hero.

The 26-year-old Pincourt, Que., native set career highs for goals, assists, and points and also posted the club's best plus-minus total after coach Alain Vigneault told him during training camp that he had to produce more offensively.

Willie Mitchell won the Babe Pratt Trophy for best defenceman while Henrik Sedin was the club's leading scorer with 76 points two ahead of twin brother Daniel before Saturday's contest.
