OTTAWA - Ottawa Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson left Thursday night's game against the Carolina Hurricanes in the second period with a hip flexor injury.

The injury isn't considered serious. The team said Alfredsson sat out for precautionary reasons and the 35-year-old, who's had hip flexor problems in the past, should be in the lineup Saturday when the Senators play the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Alfredsson came into the game with an 11-game point streak (nine goals, six assists) and ranked fifth in the NHL in scoring with 60 points.
