NEW YORK – The National Hockey League (NHL), Upper Deck and McFarlane Toys have teamed to offer hockey fans in Atlanta the chance to meet current and former NHL stars and view the most cherished prize in team sports -- the Stanley Cup -- at a two-day trading card and memorabilia show at the CNN Center, Jan. 26-27, 2008. The show will be part of the 2008 NHL All-Star Weekend in Atlanta.
The 2008 NHL All-Star Trading Card and Memorabilia Show, presented by Upper Deck and McFarlane Toys, will feature memorabilia from a number of hobby stores. Fans will be able to collect exclusive Upper Deck trading cards, including Sidney Crosby, Ilya Kovalchuk, Jonathan Toews, members of the Atlanta Thrashers and other All-Stars as part of their wrapper redemption program. The Upper Deck booth also will feature the opportunity to have a personal trading card created as an All-Star or take a few shots on goal through their “Lucky Shot” game.
McFarlane Toys has made 3,000 limited-edition Marian Hossa action figures available exclusively during the two-day event. Todd McFarlane, CEO of McFarlane Toys, Creator of Spawn and minority owner of the Edmonton Oilers will be on hand to sign autographs, as will current and former NHL players.
Other attractions include a live mural experience created by artist David Arrigo, a collectible pin trading area, a unique creation using trading cards by Guinness World record holder in card stacking Bryan Berg, and a live painting by renowned 3-D pop artist Charles Fazzino.
