DETROIT - Detroit Red Wings defenceman Brad Stuart will sit out the rest of the regular season with a broken finger and could miss the start of the playoffs.
General manager Ken Holland told Booth Newspapers on Thursday that Stuart suffered a non-displaced fracture in one of his fingers.
Holland didn't say which finger or hand.
The injury happened when Stuart blocked a shot during the third period of Wednesday's 3-1 win over the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets.
The Red Wings acquired Stuart from the Los Angeles Kings on Feb. 26 in exchange for two draft picks in order to add depth to Detroit's injury-depleted blue-line.
