Penguins sell remaining 500 tickets in 10 minutes

Monday, 06.08.2009 / 2:35 PM / 2009 Stanley Cup Final: Detroit vs. Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh Penguins will be playing in front of their 118th straight sellout crowd Tuesday in their final home game of the 2008-09 season at Mellon Arena.

The Pens are 8-2 at home in the postseason. The club won Games 3 and 4 of the Cup Final at Mellon Arena last week and hope to extend the series to seven games with a third victory.

According to Tom McMillan, the Vice President of Communications for the Penguins, the team sold out the remaining 500 tickets that were made available to the public on Monday morning in less than 10 minutes.

Pittsburgh native Joanne Geyer was first in line at the arena box office at 8:45 a.m. -- the office opened at 10 a.m. Unfortunately, however, Geyer might not even be attending the game despite waiting in line for over an hour.

"I got the tickets for my boss and even though I'd love to go to the game I don't think I'll be invited," Geyer said with a smile. "Even if I was invited, I don't think I'd be able to pay for the ticket."
