ANAHEIM, Calif. - George Parros has been given some job security by the Anaheim Ducks.

The NHL team signed its tough guy to a three-year extension on Thursday that will keep him under contract through the 2011-12 season.

"We are pleased to announce that George has signed for three more seasons," said Ducks GM Bob Murray. "His character and toughness on the ice along with his commitment to our community have been valuable assets for the organization."

Parros is currently in his third season with the Ducks and has already set career highs with three goals and eight points. He also has 74 penalty minutes thanks in large part to 12 fighting majors.

The 29-year-old won a Stanley Cup with Anaheim in 2007 following previous stops in Los Angeles and Colorado.

In 203 career games, he has 19 points (7-12) and 497 penalty minutes.
