Jordan Eberle had a goal and two assists and David Perron scored twice as the Edmonton Oilers won their fourth consecutive preseason game with a 5-3 victory against the New York Rangers at Rexall Place.
"It's fun to have a lot of success right now, but hopefully we can carry it over to the regular season," said Perron, who was acquired from the St. Louis Blues during the summer.
The Oilers are off until Friday, when they’ll face the Dallas Stars in Oklahoma City, the home of their top farm team. The Rangers continue their western Canadian preseason trip at Vancouver on Thursday -- and they might do it with a smaller roster.
"I thought we carried the play for a good part of the night," Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said. "I'm liking a lot of the things I'm seeing, but at the same time, when you watch the games, some players are falling behind as far as the pace and the step of the NHL. There is a chance we might decide to accelerate the process of getting down on [roster] numbers."
