Wild come from behind to edge Jets in shootout

Wednesday, 08.06.2014 / 4:52 AM

Minnesota Wild defenseman Ryan Suter, making his 2013 preseason debut, scored with 8:19 remaining in the third period, and Jason Pominville had the only shootout goal to lift the Wild to a 4-3 victory over the Winnipeg Jets at Xcel Energy Center.

With Suter, Pominville, Mikko Koivu and Zach Parise in the lineup, Carson McMillan and Charlie Coyle scored first-period goals to give the Wild a 2-0 lead.

The Jets took a 3-2 lead on second-period goals by Eric O'Dell, Patrice Cormier and Paul Postma.

Parise and Koivu assisted on Suter's goal.

"As the game goes on and we need a goal, who goes out there and gets it for us? That line," Wild coach Mike Yeo told the team's website.

Nicklas Backstrom stopped 28 shots through overtime, then three shootout attempts.
