Soderberg, Johnson lead Bruins past Red Wings

Sunday, 09.22.2013 / 12:21 AM

Carl Soderberg scored twice, and Chad Johnson made 18 saves as the Boston Bruins shut out the Detroit Red Wings, 2-0, at Joe Louis Arena.

Soderberg's goals came in 1:45 spanning the second and third periods. He got his first with 1:04 remaining in the second then added the other 41 seconds into the third.

Patrice Bergeron made his preseason debut for the Bruins, recovered from injuries he sustained during the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

"Felt pretty good and feeling good now too, so good to get that first one out of the way and now I can move forward," Bergeron said, according to the team's website.

The Red Wings played without Daniel Alfredsson, Pavel Datsyuk, Niklas Kronwall and Henrik Zetterberg.
