Season series: This is the third and final game. The Boston Bruins won the first two against the Columbus Blue Jackets, 3-1 in Columbus on Oct. 12 and 3-2 in overtime in Boston on Nov. 14.

Big story: Each team will play its second game in two days. It is the Blue Jackets' sixth back-to-back set and fourth in November. It's the Bruins' fifth, third in November. Boston is 3-1-0 and Columbus is 3-1-1 in the second of back-to-back games.

Team Scope:

Blue Jackets: After a 4-2 home win against the Edmonton Oilers on Friday, Columbus has alternated wins and losses over its past seven games (4-3-0). The Blue Jackets have scored a total of 16 goals in the four wins but have been outscored 17-2 in the losses, including a 7-0 loss to the Oilers on Nov. 19.

"It was embarrassing. We wanted to come back in our building, especially get a win in front of our fans and beat these guys up. I felt like we did," left wing Matt Calvert said after the game Friday night.

Despite a warning from coach Todd Richards during the second intermission, the Blue Jackets perhaps lost their focus in the third period while looking for a measure of revenge for the loss 10 days earlier.

"My message to the team wasn't to go out and score more goals after the second," Richards said. "I wanted us to continue to come out and play a hard game and make it difficult on them. We went the opposite direction."

Bruins: Boston rallied with two third-period goals for a 3-2 win against the New York Rangers on Friday in the 2013 NHL Thanksgiving Showdown.

Zdeno Chara, who scored the game-winning goal in the third period to cap his Gordie Howe Hat Trick, talked about the Bruins bouncing back with the home win after a tough 6-1 road loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday.

"We all felt really bad about that game," he said. "It was just one of those nights where we just didn't execute anything and nothing was really happening for us. Detroit played really well, and yeah, they deserved to win that game, but those kind of games do happen, and it's just the way you have to bounce back and regroup from nights like that. I thought today we did a pretty good job."

Chara assisted on Brad Marchand's first-period goal, then fought Rangers forward Brian Boyle in the second.

Who's hot: Johansen has three goals in his past two games. The 21-year-old center has 18 points (nine goals) after a goal and an assist against Edmonton. … Chara has three goals in his past four games. Right wing Reilly Smith has four points (two goals) his past five games.

Injury report: Blue Jackets forwards Nathan Horton (shoulder surgery), Derek MacKenzie (back), Marian Gaborik (sprained knee) and Jared Boll (bruised foot) are on injured reserve. Center Brandon Dubinsky (bruised foot) skated Friday but is considered doubtful against Boston. … The Bruins have a healthy lineup.
