Canada hangs on for 4-3 semifinal win over United States at hockey worlds

MOSCOW - Canada defeated the United States 4-3 in semifinal play today at the world hockey championship.

The victory sets up a showdown with unbeaten Finland in Sunday's gold-medal game.

Ryan Ellis scored the winning goal early in the third period for the defending champions.

Derick Brassard, Brad Marchand and Brendan Gallagher had the other Canadian goals.

Auston Matthews, David Warsofsky and Tyler Motte scored for the Americans.

The U.S. will play host Russia for the bronze medal.
