MONTREAL - The Montreal Canadiens announced Wednesday that playmaking forward Martin Reway has signed a three-year contract with the club.

The five-foot-nine Reway, drafted 116th overall in 2013 by Montreal, split last season between Sparta Prague in the Czech league, where he had five goals and 10 assists in 14 games, and Fribourg-Gotteron in Switzerland, where he eight goals and 21 points in 19 games.

The 21-year-old played three times for Slovakia at the world junior championship, helping them to a surprise bronze medal in 2015. He also played at the 2014 and 2016 world hockey championship.

He played two seasons of junior hockey with the Gatineau Olympiques of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League before returning to Europe.

Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin called Reway "a young forward with tremendous offensive skills."

Martin has the potential to become a very good player," Bergevin said in a team release. "We are glad to have him join a group of young prospects who will be competing for a spot with our team at training camp in September."
