QMJHL Roundup: Sea Dogs rally past Screaming Eagles to force Game 7

SYDNEY, N.S. - Sam Povorozniouk's second goal of the game on the power play was the winner as the Saint John Sea Dogs rallied past the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 5-4 on Sunday to force a Game 7.

The win ties the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League second-round playoff series 3-3.

Povorozniouk scored his first goal on a penalty shot in the second period. Matthew Highmore also struck twice, including once with the man advantage, with Spencer Smallman adding the other. Ottawa Senators prospect Thomas Chabot chipped in with four assists for the Sea Dogs.

Giovanni Fiore had two goals and an assist for Cape Breton, with Clark Bishop scoring once and adding two helpers. Pierre-Luc Dubois rounded out the attack.

Marc-Antoine Turcotte made 20 saves for the win in net as Alexandre Belanger turned aside 26-of-31 shots in defeat.

Saint John was 2 for 3 on the power play, with the Screaming Eagles going scoreless on one opportunity with the man advantage.

Game 7 is on Tuesday in Saint John, N.B.

SHAWINIGAN, Que. — Dmytro Timashov scored twice in a four-goal second period and added an assist as the Cataractes downed Charlottetown in Game 6 to win their second round series 4-2.

Alex Pawelczyk also struck twice for Shawinigan, with Samuel Girard tacking on three assists. Gabriel Gagne and Anthony Beauvillier supplied the rest of the offence.

Bradley Kennedy had the lone goal for the Islanders.
