Goalie Ryan Faragher of the San Diego Gulls, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks, used the Will Ferrell blockbuster movie "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy," as inspiration for his new goalie mask.

The mask features a portrait of Burgundy, the lead character from the 2004 movie. Burgundy, played by Ferrell, is the anchor of fictional San Diego TV station KVWN Channel 4. The Channel 4 logo from the movie is portrayed prominently on the mask, as is a picture of the main characters in the movie: Burgundy along with David Koechner, who played sports anchor Champ Kind; Paul Rudd, who played reporter Brian Fantana; and Steve Carell, who played weatherman Brick Tamland.

David Gunnarson, who designs masks for several NHL goalies, did the artwork for the mask. He posted pictures of the mask to his Facebook account Friday.

"You stay classy San Diego. Yep, Ryan Faragher was sure what he wanted on his new San Diego mask. ... When you play in San Diego, a tribute design to the TV host of the city is a sure thing. ... The one and only. ..." is part of the explanation posted by Gunnarson.

Burgundy's signature sign-off line from each newscast was, "You stay classy, San Diego."

Faragher, 25, signed with San Diego on July 8, 2015 and is 1-3-0 with a 3.37 goals-against average and .895 save percentage in four games.
