The agent for Washington Capitals goalie Braden Holtby told The Washington Post on Sunday that he expects the sides to agree on a multiyear extension at some point this summer.

Holtby, 25, finished fourth in the Vezina Trophy voting after going 41-20-10 with a 2.22 goals-against average, a .923 save percentage and nine shutouts.

The Post reported the Capitals have already offered Holtby more than $5 million for at least five years. Holtby filed for salary arbitration Sunday, which could speed up the negotiation process.

"In Braden's case, I think it's going to get done," agent David Kaye said. "They've always been pretty fair with all their players. They both get along, Braden's a great guy, he'd love to stay too. Washington's a good team to deal with. Honestly I can't see any major issues."

Holtby and the Capitals were less than two minutes away from advancing to the Eastern Conference Final, but instead lost to the New York Rangers in seven games. Holtby went 6-7 with a 1.71 GAA, a .944 save percentage and one shutout in the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

"I know Washington's been pretty fair to their guys in the past," Kaye said. "I just think it's going to get done. I don't think it's going to be an issue.

"Waiting for them to come back to us. They'll talk to us in the next little while, I know."

Capitals forward Marcus Johansson also filed for salary arbitration Sunday. He had 20 goals and 27 assists in 82 games last season.
