Kings sign defenseman Gravel to two-year contract

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have signed defenseman Kevin Gravel to a two-year contract, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

The 23-year-old Gravel (born on March 6, 1992) is a 6-4, 204-pound native of Kingsford, Mich., who appeared in 58 regular season games last year in his first full professional season with Manchester. He posted 15 points (6-9=15), a plus-15 rating and 23 penalty minutes. He also appeared in all 19 postseason games for the Calder Cup Champion Monarchs registering five points (0-5=5) and a plus-2 rating.

A fifth-round (148th overall) selection of the Kings at the 2010 NHL Draft, Gravel played four year at St. Cloud State University, appearing in 153 games totaling 49 points (13-36=49) and 43 penalty minutes. He set career-highs during his senior season in goals (10), assists (13) and points (23). Gravel played in his first professional game with Manchester, April 4, 2014 vs. Hartford. In five games with Manchester during the 2013-14 season, Gravel was scoreless with two penalty minutes.
