Buffalo Sabres forward Evander Kane is ahead of schedule in his recovery from shoulder surgery, his agent told Pro Hockey Talk.

"Evander had a [follow-up] appointment in Buffalo and all are pleased with his progress," agent Craig Oster told the website in remarks published Saturday. "He is ahead of schedule on his recovery and the expectation is he will be completely healthy for the start of the Sabres' season."

Kane had surgery on his left shoulder in early February and the prognosis was for 4-6 months of recovery.

Kane and defenseman Zach Bogosian were acquired by the Sabres from the Winnipeg Jets on Feb. 11 in a trade for defenseman Tyler Myers, forward Drew Stafford, two prospects and a first-round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft.

In 37 games with the Jets before leaving the lineup, Kane had 10 goals and 12 assists.

Buffalo hired Dan Bylsma as its coach May 28 and holds the No. 2 pick in the 2015 draft.
