NASHVILLE -- Nashville Predators defenseman Shea Weber sustained a lower-body injury Friday in a 6-2 victory against the Chicago Blackhawks at Bridgestone Arena in Game 2 of their Western Conference First Round series.

The Predators did not have an update on Weber, who had an assist and was plus-1 in 13:25 before he exited the game with the injury at 9:20 of the second period.

Weber was injured on a hit by Chicago forward Brandon Saad behind the Nashville net. The Predators captain appeared unable to put weight on his right leg as he left the ice.

"If you lose your captain and your best player, it's never a good thing," said Nashville defenseman Roman Josi, who played 24:31 and had a goal. "Hopefully he'll be OK."

Predators coach Peter Laviolette liked the response following Weber's injury.

"I think the guys played a good game tonight; they played hard. I think everybody was locked in the moment," Laviolette said. "There's injuries that go on through the course of the game, and you don't know what they are or the significance of the injuries, but certainly you never like to lose any player. You certainly don't like to lose a guy who takes down as many minutes as Shea and the captain of your team."

The best-of-7 series is tied 1-1. Game 3 will be played Sunday at United Center in Chicago (3 p.m. ET; NBC, SN, TVA Sports).

Weber had 15 goals, 30 assists, 166 hits and a plus-15 rating in 78 regular-season games.
