QMJHL Roundup: Remparts advance to semifinals after sweeping Islanders

CHARLOTTETOWN - The Quebec Remparts are the first team to advance to the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League semifinals after toppling the Charlottetown Islanders 5-2 on Wednesday.

Guillaume Gauthier scored three times as Quebec swept the best-of-seven quarter-final matchup 4-0.

Matt Murphy and Raphael Maheux also struck for the Remparts — who outscored Charlottetown 27-9 in the series — while Marc-Olivier Roy tacked on three assists.

Daniel Sprong and Ross Johnston found the back of the net for the Islanders with Filip Chlapik setting up both goals.

Zachary Fucale made 27 saves for Quebec as Daryl MacCallum turned away 36-of-40 shots for Charlottetown.

The Remparts went 1 for 3 on the power play while the Islanders scored twice on four chances with the man advantage.
