WHL Roundup: Wapple leads Pats in Game-3 win over Wheat Kings

REGINA - Daniel Wapple stopped 39 shots as the Regina Pats edged the Brandon Wheat Kings 3-2 on Tuesday to pick up their first win of their second-round Western Hockey League playoff series.

Carter Hansen, Jared McAmmond and Jesse Gabrielle scored for the Pats, who trail the best-of-seven series 2-1.

Peter Quenneville, on a power play, and Stelio Mattheos supplied the Brandon offence.

Jordan Papirny made 28 saves in the losing effort.

Regina hosts Game 4 on Wednesday.

ROCKETS 4 ROYALS 2

VICTORIA — Jackson Whistle made 28 saves as Kelowna took a commanding 3-0 lead over the Royals in their second-round series.

Madison Bowey and Nick Merkley had power-play goals for the Rockets, Leon Draisaitl scored shorthanded and Gage Quinney rounded out the attack.

Greg Chase and Alex Forsberg struck for Victoria, which hosts Game 4 on Wednesday. Coleman Vollrath started in net and stopped 24-of-28 shots through 40 minutes and Justin Paulic was perfect on eight shots in relief.
