Marek Tvrdon scores first of four Griffins goals in third in 7-2 rout of Marlies

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Marek Tvrdon scored the first of four straight goals in the third period as the Grand Rapids Griffins routed the Toronto Marlies 7-2 on Saturday in American Hockey League action.

Jeff Hoggan, Mark Zengerle and Kevin Porter also scored in the third for Grand Rapids (42-20-8). Tomas Nosek, Anthony Mantha and Nick Jensen rounded out the attack. Jared Coreau kicked out 36 shots.

Ryan Rupert and William Nylander had goals for the Marlies (33-26-10). Christopher Gibson made 28 saves in the loss.

Toronto's Josh Leivo and Louis-Marc Aubry of the Griffins both received game misconducts at 16:44 of the third period for fighting off the playing surface.

Grand Rapids scored twice on four power-play opportunities while the Marlies were 0 for 6 with the man advantage.
