Maple Leafs acquire Brewer and draft pick from Ducks

David Nonis, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Monday that the hockey club has acquired defenceman Eric Brewer and a fifth round draft pick in 2016 from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for defenceman Korbinian Holzer.

Brewer, 35, has registered one goal and one assist in nine games with the Ducks this season after arriving in a trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning on November 28, 2014. In 991 career NHL games, the Vernon, British Columbia native has recorded 266 points (75 goals and 191 assists) and 780 penalty minutes. Brewer was originally selected by the New York Islanders with the fifth overall selection in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.
